About Silk Road Music:

A founding member of our concert series, regulars Silk Road Music return for the 23rd Year of Enchanted Evenings.

Qiu Xia He Silk Road Music was formed in 1991 by virtuoso pipa player Qiu Xia He, who came to Canada in 1989 to play the Vancouver Folk Music Festival as part of a touring ensemble from China. She stayed in Canada and has become a vibrant addition to the Vancouver Music scene. Joined by her husband Andre Thibualt, a multi instrumentalist, they delighted audiences from festivals to symphony halls, and have garnered fantastic reviews for their virtuosic skills and artistry. Each year, Silk Road Music brings something new to  Enchanted Evenings. On Aug 18, it is our pleasure to introduce you to Jill Russell on flute who studied Jazz at Western Washington University. She plays many styles of music including classical, world and specializes in brazilian music. She has toured with Celso Machado and many artists. Her gifted performance will blow in refreshing air to the magic garden alongside the shimmering Pipa and evoking guitar.

Through thousands of concerts around the world, Silk Road Music delivers virtuosity and imagination. Silk Road Music is an award winning group that has taken Chinese-Western collaboration to a new level. Its innovative blend of Asian, jazz, Latin, Celtic music and classical Chinese instruments and techniques has created a unique sound. Qiu Xia He (Chu Sha Her) and Andre Thibault, a husband-and-wife team, combine their skills and talent to share the excitement of this new breed of Canadian multicultural music.
